Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is a leading specialty retailer committed to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration for customers across North America. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores throughout 49 states and Canada, along with an expansive online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Since its founding in 1973, Michaels has evolved into the premier destination for all things creative—from arts and crafts supplies to custom framing services through its Artistree division. Michaels prides itself on fostering a passionate, inclusive, and engaging environment both for its customers and its team members. The company’s purpose centers on inspiring creativity and making celebrations special through diverse, high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
The Store Associate position at the DEN-Lakewood, CO location offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in a dynamic retail environment focused on customer satisfaction and community engagement. This role is designed for energetic, friendly, and customer-oriented persons who enjoy assisting shoppers and delivering a seamless retail experience. The position involves engaging customers by helping them find products and solutions, ensuring fast checkout processes, and contributing to store merchandising and recovery activities. As a Store Associate, you will be responsible for executing tasks such as truck unloading, stocking shelves according to planograms, and supporting omni-channel retail initiatives including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
The role demands a hands-on team player who can maintain store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. A key aspect of this position is creating a positive shopping environment by adhering to the company’s Brand Promises and customer service standards. Employees are encouraged to promote the company’s Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card while collecting valuable customer feedback through the Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys. This role also includes cross-training in custom framing selling and production, offering an opportunity to develop a broader skill set.
Physical stamina and a readiness to handle the physical demands of the retail environment—such as standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and reaching—are necessary. Working hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the operational needs of the retail space and the frame shop area, which involves handling specialized equipment like glass cutters and heat presses. Michaels is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to support employees in performing their essential job functions effectively.
The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.16 to $17.70. Michaels stands out not only for its dedication to customers but also for valuing its team through comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. This commitment extends to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace culture that emphasizes teamwork, positivity, and role modeling company values. Whether you are a seasoned retail professional or new to the industry, this role presents a vibrant career path with opportunities for growth in one of the largest, most trusted arts and crafts retailers in North America.
