The position of Tech Ops Occupational Health & Safety Evaluator is a critical role within JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS). This full-time role, with a competitive salary range between $67,000 and $101,000 annually, supports the planning, drafting, implementation, and assessment of occupational health and safety programs and processes, ensuring alignment with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, and other regulatory bodies. The Evaluator plays a proactive role in maintaining safe work environments, emphasizing continuous improvement (CI) methodologies through the 5S/6S initiatives—particularly in hangar cities where JetBlue operates maintenance facilities. This includes overseeing data management in safety-related databases such as the Aviation Quality Database (AQD) and other internal systems.

This role requires a hands-on approach, acting as a safety ambassador for fellow crewmembers by delivering safety briefings, providing training, and responding promptly to safety concerns. The incumbent supports strategic safety planning, evaluates the impact of emerging regulations, manages Safety Data Sheet programs, and leads incident investigations related to occupational injuries, ground damages, and inflight maintenance events. Root cause analysis and risk mitigation are key responsibilities, ensuring corrective actions enhance operational safety.

Candidates must be adaptable, able to work under pressure within fixed time constraints, and be comfortable traveling up to 50 percent of the time to multiple locations and jobsites, including airport environments. Physical effort is required to handle objects and engage in duties necessitating bending, crouching, and kneeling. The position demands a professional appearance, adherence to JetBlue’s Uniform Policy Manual, and eligibility to legally work in the United States without visa sponsorship. It also requires the ability to work flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends, to support continuous safety coverage.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Relevant experience in managing occupational health and safety management systems, as well as familiarity with aviation industry programs like AQD, SharePoint, and InfoPath, are highly preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to train large groups and interact with all organizational levels, are essential.
