Job Description
Our healthcare facility is dedicated to providing top-notch emergency medical services in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. We pride ourselves on delivering compassionate care, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining operational efficiency in all aspects of our emergency room (ER) services. As a vital part of our team, the ER Front Desk Receptionist plays a crucial role in the patient experience, acting as the first point of contact for all patients and visitors. This reception role is essential in managing patient flow, administrative tasks, and facilitating smooth communication between patients, insurance providers, and medical staff.
The ER Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to patients as they check in, verifying insurance details accurately, and collecting the appropriate payments for visits. This role demands a high level of accuracy and professionalism due to the fast-paced nature of the emergency room, where quick decision-making and multitasking are critical. Candidates will need to demonstrate outstanding communication skills and the ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure. The position requires managing multiple channels of information, including phone calls, patient records, and insurance documentation, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for every patient.
Key responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls, booking patient appointments, confirming upcoming clinic visits, processing walk-ins, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the front desk and office lobby. The receptionist must ensure all patient paperwork is complete and accurate, including scanning insurance cards and driver’s licenses, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, and interacting with patients about payments, including current and past due balances. The job also involves balancing the cash drawer daily and updating patient information in electronic medical record systems such as eClinicalWorks.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in high-energy environments and excel in multitasking and clear communication. Attention to detail, proficiency with computer systems, and an empathetic approach to patient interactions are essential qualities for success. Employment is full-time, with an emphasis on regular attendance, punctuality, and adaptability to shifting priorities and patient volumes. Previous experience with Electronic Health Records enhances the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this position. With the growing demand for excellent patient service in emergency care, the ER Front Desk Receptionist role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the healthcare team's overall success and improve patient satisfaction through efficient administrative support.
