The Environmental Services Department at Cleveland Clinic is among the highest performing teams, known for maintaining pristine and sanitary conditions essential for patient safety and comfort. They are currently seeking an Environmental Services Area Cleaner to join their dedicated team. This role is pivotal in ensuring cleanliness and hygiene across various hospital areas including patient rooms, restrooms, common spaces, and specialized units. The position includes responsibilities such as disinfecting, trash disposal, equipment maintenance, and prompt response to cleaning requests. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Interest, aptitude and ability for housekeeping work demonstrated by experience or capability to learn
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to use care and attention when using equipment
- Ability to work in stationary and mobile positions for extended periods
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to 10 pounds
- Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds
- Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to inspect equipment
- Ability to clean and use cleaning products
- May come into contact with communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Compliance with use of personal protective equipment as required
- If uninsurable under hospital plan, not permitted to drive company vehicle
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience or aptitude for housekeeping work

- Knowledge of infection control practices
Job Duties
- Cleans patient rooms, utility rooms, nourishment rooms, conference rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, locker rooms and rest rooms throughout the Medical Center
- Cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, lockers and replenishes supplies
- Collects all types of trash or needles and disposes of it appropriately
- High dusts ceilings, ceiling vents, TVs, light fixtures, doors, walls, wall hangings and any flat surface
- Washes or spot washes assigned walls, cabinets, elevators, counters, desks, and windows as required
- Cleans floors, carpets, floods and body fluids throughout the Medical Center
- Cleans, uses and maintains equipment including vacuums, buffers, cleaning carts, buckets/wringers, sweeping tools and mops
- Reports malfunctioning equipment, unsafe conditions and broken items to supervisor
- Transports and moves furniture/equipment as needed
- Cleans and disinfects beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and other patient room items
- Strips and makes beds throughout the Medical Center
- Performs other duties as assigned
