The Environmental Services Technician part-time role at Atrium Health University City, which is part of Advocate Health, is essential to maintaining the safety, sustainability, and cleanliness of medical environments for patients, staff, and visitors. This role offers a critical service that supports the broader mission of Advocate Health in delivering quality healthcare in a clean and hygienic setting. Working approximately 20 hours per week, mostly on weekdays and every other weekend, this position offers a pay range between $18.85 and $28.30 per hour and includes eligibility for benefits.
The Environmental Services Technician’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all assigned areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This includes dusting, sanitizing furniture, equipment, and fixtures, washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures, and performing floor care such as sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets. Additional tasks include restocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting any necessary repairs. The role sometimes requires outdoor cleaning duties such as cleaning parking lots, windows, and roofs.
The role involves significant interaction with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, and other materials necessary for effective environmental services. Regular responsibilities include removing various types of waste including soiled linens, trash, sharps, hazardous waste, and recyclables, along with emptying cigarette receptacles in designated smoking areas. The technician ensures that all cleaning equipment is clean and properly maintained, and promptly reports any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
Compliance with safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards are crucial components of this role. The technician participates in ongoing training and education programs to maintain technical knowledge and safety awareness. Strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and cooperative teamwork are essential.
