Job Description
City of Hope is a leading non-profit organization and comprehensive cancer center dedicated to making hope a reality for all those affected by cancer and diabetes. Founded in 1913, this renowned institution has grown to become one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States. City of Hope is also acclaimed for its cutting-edge research in diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Its revolutionary research has led to breakthroughs such as new cancer medicines, human synthetic insulin, and pioneering monoclonal antibodies. At its core, City of Hope hosts a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, ranked among the top five in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. The institution prides itself on an integrated model that encompasses cancer care, research and development, academic programs, and a broad philanthropy effort supporting its mission. Beyond its main Los Angeles campus, City of Hope’s system includes multiple clinical care locations across Southern California, an advanced cancer center in Orange County, and cancer treatment and outpatient facilities in key cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix.
The role of Environmental Services Technician at City of Hope is pivotal to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within its hospital units. This position requires a dedicated individual to support the institution’s mission by delivering excellent non-medical sanitation services. The technician will operate cleaning equipment and use appropriate tools, products, and supplies to perform routine and established cleaning duties. These duties include dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning light fixtures and furniture, and emptying trash, all essential practices to ensure a sanitary, pleasant environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Operating within a team, the Environmental Services Technician not only adheres to strict sanitation standards but also supports the operational effectiveness of the facility. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday with shifts from either 11:30 am to 7:30 pm or 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, including occasional weekend and holiday coverage, reflecting the commitment required to maintain continuous cleanliness in a healthcare setting. Additionally, this role is well suited for candidates with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions precisely. With City of Hope's dedication to equal opportunity employment, the role welcomes candidates with a high school diploma or GED and prefers previous experience in healthcare environmental services. Compensation is based on factors such as work experience, qualifications, and work location, making it a competitive opportunity for those seeking to contribute to an impactful healthcare environment.
