UNC REX Healthcare is a prominent 500-bed facility spanning 1 million square feet, making it the second largest unit within the UNC Health system. Known for its comprehensive healthcare services, UNC REX serves a large and diverse patient population, requiring meticulous attention to operational efficiency and high standards of cleanliness and safety. Within this context, the Environmental Services Department plays a vital role, overseeing over 150 team members across three shifts to maintain sanitary conditions and ensure infection prevention practices are meticulously followed.

The Environmental Services Manager 2 role at UNC REX Healthcare is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing a team of 25-30 employees primarily on the second shift, with additional oversight of the third shift as needed. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively coordinate custodial operations including outpatient and Cath Lab cleaning, floor care, and ensure compliance with infection control protocols. The manager’s responsibilities extend to administrative tasks such as payroll management, hiring, and scheduling. This position also involves weekend and holiday rotations on a second shift schedule, demanding flexibility and commitment.

Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly valued in this role, facilitating communication and fostering an inclusive workforce in managing a diverse team. Candidates ideally bring a wealth of experience in environmental services, hotel housekeeping, custodial services, or military service, combined with strong customer service expertise.
