Job Description

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is one of the world’s premier cancer treatment and research institutions, dedicated to ending cancer for life. MSK is currently seeking motivated individuals to join its Environmental Service Department as Environmental Service Aides at its 53rd Street location in New York City. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $23.49 to $32.46. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 4:45 pm to 12:45 am, including every other weekend, providing a stable work environment along with excellent benefits. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment that supports the overall patient experience and the well-being of staff and visitors alike. Individuals joining this team will be instrumental in supporting the hospital’s mission through diligent environmental care.

The Environmental Service Aide plays a critical role in ensuring that cleanliness and safety standards are rigorously upheld throughout the facility. Following the Seven Step Cleaning guidelines outlined in the ESA Manual, the aide will be responsible for numerous activities such as safe removal of general and infectious waste, handling soiled linen, performing small moves within the facility, and properly mixing, storing, and using cleaning chemicals. Additional responsibilities include operating equipment like cardboard bailers and trash compactors to maintain efficiency in waste management.

Beyond the technical aspects, the Environmental Service Aide is expected to embody a strong service attitude, delivering excellent customer service and communicating effectively with patients, family members, visitors, and hospital staff. The role demands reliability, accountability, and a positive team spirit, as these aides work closely with supervisors and other team members to accomplish daily tasks and special projects assigned by management. Job Duties
