Job Description
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a renowned healthcare institution committed to providing excellent patient care and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within its facilities. Located in Brooklyn, New York, this medical center offers a wide range of services including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient treatment, surgery, and specialized healthcare programs. The center prides itself on its dedication to quality healthcare, advanced medical technology, and a compassionate approach to patients and their families. It continuously strives to promote a healthy and safe atmosphere that supports both the patients' recovery and the well-being of its staff and visitors.
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is currently seeking an Environmental Services Aide to join their team. This role is fundamental in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the hospital environment, which directly impacts the quality of care patients receive. The position involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties that ensure all patient areas, offices, and public spaces meet stringent hygiene standards. This job is perfect for individuals who take pride in creating a safe and pleasant environment and are physically capable of performing manual tasks efficiently.
As an Environmental Services Aide, the selected candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive range of janitorial duties within the hospital. They will engage in sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, polishing, and moving furniture to uphold an environment free from dirt, dust, and contaminants. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, including high dusting and germicidal cleaning of vents, light fixtures, ceiling tiles, and frequently touched surfaces such as doors, furniture, and equipment. Additional responsibilities include cleaning bathrooms, replenishing supplies like soap and paper towels, as well as changing drapery and curtains to maintain a fresh and hygienic space.
Moreover, the Environmental Services Aide will handle carpet and floor care duties such as vacuuming carpets and mats, extracting and buffing hard floors, and shampooing carpeted areas. They will operate various cleaning equipment, including buffers, auto scrubbers, and wet vacuums, to ensure effective sanitation. Trash collection and disposal is another critical task, which involves managing regular refuse as well as regulated medical waste safely. The role may also require assisting in moving supplies, equipment, furniture, and even patients within the hospital, highlighting the physical aspect of the job.
Flexibility is essential, as the aide may be assigned to different areas based on the hospital's needs, including outdoor grounds maintenance such as litter cleanup and snow removal during inclement weather. Participation in training sessions and safety programs is mandatory to keep up with health and safety regulations. This role offers a weekday schedule with rotating weekends, working from 10am to 6pm, and comes with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.44 to $29.17.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking employment in the healthcare environment with minimal prior experience, offering growth potential within a supportive and mission-driven organization. Wyckoff Heights Medical Center values dedication, reliability, and a strong work ethic, making this a rewarding position for those passionate about contributing to patient care through essential support services.
