This specific role is an entry-level driver training position designed for individuals looking to begin their career in the transportation and logistics industry. Offering a starting pay of $20.00 per hour with a Monday to Friday schedule from 6am to 3pm (with some flexibility required), this role provides the invaluable opportunity to develop the skills necessary to safely operate tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries. The Driver Trainee will be trained extensively through the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, learning under the close supervision of a driver trainer and gaining hands-on experience in transporting food and food-related products safely and efficiently.

As part of this role, the driver trainee will perform essential duties including conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, securing freight properly, and interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and team members. The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction, while offering a clear pathway for career advancement within the transportation sector. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL A Permit
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move and/or stack product cases or freight
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Internal PFG candidates must have 1 year of service in good standing and be able to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card
  • External driver school direct hire with 0-6 months experience with a CDL Permit
  • External entry level hire with 0-6 months experience with a CDL Permit
  • Valid CDL A Permit
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move and/or stack product cases or freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete PFG entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor truck and trailer
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and perform count check of items
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products, transport items into designated customer storage areas, verify delivery and obtain signatures
