Job Description

PFG Customized Distribution is a prominent company that specializes in meeting the unique distribution needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. As a key player in the food service industry, PFG Customized Distribution provides customized attention and a centralized contact system for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination. The company serves a diverse customer base across the United States and extends its reach to more than 40 countries worldwide. With a strong commitment to quality service and operational excellence, PFG Customized Distribution plays a vital role in ensuring timely and efficient delivery of food products that support the hospitality industry on a global scale.

This position is an entry-level driver training role designed to train individuals to become proficient tractor trailer or straight truck drivers. The driver trainee will gain hands-on experience driving intrastate and interstate routes that may include local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or overnight deliveries. The primary responsibility of this role is to safely and effectively deliver and unload various food and food-related products in adherence to all company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Additionally, this role emphasizes safety, professionalism, and customer service. The driver trainee will work closely with a driver trainer, participating in ride-along sessions and learning operational procedures necessary to perform deliveries efficiently. All routes must be completed with strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring secure loading and unloading of freight, proper documentation, and timely customer interactions.

The position offers competitive pay with a minimum weekly guaranteed pay of $1,350 and an average annual salary ranging between $70,000 and $80,000. Sign-on bonuses are available, with $7,500 offered to candidates who have prior foodservice delivery experience and $5,000 for those without such experience. The work schedule spans Sunday through Saturday with a minimum commitment of four days weekly, typically with dispatch times from 7 PM to 3 AM, and team driving opportunities.

Working at PFG Customized Distribution comes with multiple benefits including Day 1 health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous growth opportunities. Employees operate within a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where rewards and recognition for performance are integral to the company culture. This role is essential for supporting America’s food distribution system and offers significant opportunities for career advancement within the company.

In summary, this role is ideal for individuals seeking to launch a career in commercial driving within the food distribution industry. The comprehensive training program combined with competitive compensation and a supportive work environment make this position a valuable starting point for aspiring drivers aiming to build a long-term career driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various delivery routes.
