This broad spectrum of expertise enables CPS Energy to deliver reliable and efficient electric and gas services, supporting community progress every day. As a community-focused utility, CPS Energy plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life through its commitment to safety, economic sustainability, and operational excellence.

The position of Senior Engineer at CPS Energy is a critical role tasked with ensuring the safe, reliable, and economical round-the-clock operation of the company's generation, electric transmission, and distribution systems. This role carries significant engineering responsibilities including the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of power plants, transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, gas systems, and control centers. The Senior Engineer is instrumental in continuously monitoring and balancing energy flow while responding promptly to system disturbances to maintain uninterrupted electric and gas service for customers.

Furthermore, the Senior Engineer position involves active participation in highly cross-functional planning and system strategy initiatives within a dynamic and evolving environment. The ideal candidate will support long-term system planning efforts and contribute to the development of practical, data-driven recommendations aimed at enhancing system reliability, cost-effectiveness, and operational readiness.

Success in this role demands a high level of comfort navigating ambiguity, building new operational processes, and shaping evolving programs from inception to execution. The Senior Engineer is expected to leverage comprehensive engineering expertise to mentor junior engineers, advocate for quality project delivery within budget and timeline, and exercise sound judgment on matters that impact safety, cost, and reliability. Additionally, the Senior Engineer may have the authority to sign and seal engineering documents and is responsible for providing critical input on multi-disciplinary initiatives.

The position requires continuous professional development and involvement in seminars and training sessions to stay abreast of the latest engineering principles and industry best practices. Effective communication skills and a collaborative work approach are essential due to the cross-unit coordination demanded by this role. The ability to work occasional unscheduled hours and travel for professional purposes is also required.
