The role of Engineer at TownePlace Suites Jacksonville NC is crucial to maintaining the physical integrity, safety, and operational efficiency of the hotel. This position is responsible for attending to guest repair requests, performing preventative maintenance on rooms and public spaces, and ensuring all safety and health codes are rigorously followed. The Engineer works closely with management and other team members to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly, contributing directly to guest satisfaction and a flawless operational environment. Job Requirements

  • Technical, trade or vocational school degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of work-related experience in commercial facility, hospitality or related field preferred
  • Must have a positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Must understand and follow established guidelines and procedures
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Must be effective at listening, understanding and resolving concerns of co-workers and guests
  • Must be able to convey information clearly
  • Must have a desire to serve all guests
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be willing to work varied schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must arrive and clock in on time for shifts and clock out at scheduled time
  • Must clock in/out for breaks at designated times
  • Must provide sufficient notice when calling out for shifts
  • Must be able to perform physical demands such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, standing, walking, repetitive motions and lifting over 50 pounds
  • Must be effective in reading, writing and communicating in English

Job Duties

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile
  • Use guests' names whenever possible
  • Contribute to great guest satisfaction scores as part of the team
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and urgency
  • Maintain strong knowledge of hotel features and amenities
  • Support all groups and events at the hotel
  • Use relevant technology effectively in role
  • Answer all incoming calls with friendly, approved greeting
  • Keep all workspaces clean and well-organized
  • Assist in cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed
  • Greet guests politely while cleaning
  • Complete operational checklists with 100% accuracy
  • Submit timely and accurate shift handover reports
  • Wear clean, approved uniform and nametag, and maintain grooming standards
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with team members
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and flexibility beyond traditional role
  • Collaborate to maintain welcoming environment and effective workplace
  • Respond to guest repair requests and document completion through electronic system
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks per the hotel program
  • Follow all safety and health codes, including pool and spa regulations
  • Report emergency or life safety concerns promptly
  • Conduct full property walk-throughs at start and end of shifts and address maintenance needs
  • Keep maintenance areas clean and organized during and after shifts
