Job Description

Lifespan is a trusted mission-driven regional nonprofit dedicated to supporting older adults as they navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with longer life. The organization has earned recognition as an award-winning team thanks to its commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of older adults. Lifespan provides a supportive and inclusive environment where employees can grow professionally while being part of meaningful work. This nonprofit operates primarily in the Monroe County and greater Finger Lakes region, focusing on services that improve both the quality of life and financial management capabilities of seniors.

The full-time Engagement Coordinator role at Lifespan is a pivotal position aimed at client and volunteer recruitment for the Financial Services programs. With an hourly rate of up to $23.00, this non-exempt role offers 37.5 hours of work per week without after-hours or on-call duties. The position is ideal for a highly motivated individual comfortable with traveling within the service area and capable of working both collaboratively with a team and independently. Hybrid work schedules may be considered following the probationary period, emphasizing flexibility alongside accountability.

The Engagement Coordinator is responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships within the community, building professional networks among allied professionals, and developing strategies to recruit both clients and volunteers. The role also involves promoting awareness and education about financial management services to diverse audiences, including urban and rural senior centers, community organizations, faith-based groups, and volunteer organizations. Moreover, the Engagement Coordinator may manage a small caseload of Power of Attorney (POA) clients.

This role places a strong emphasis on outreach, requiring the candidate to field incoming calls from prospective clients and referral sources, provide education on financial topics, and identify engagement opportunities that foster ongoing relationships. The coordinator will maintain critical administrative tasks such as managing referral logs, tracking new client enrollments, facilitating client sign-on documentation, and conducting annual follow-ups. Additionally, the coordinator provides monthly updates to program directors and division leadership, ensuring transparency and continuous program improvement.

Physical and mental demands associated with the role include extensive community-based work (85% of the time), with a smaller portion spent in office settings. The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be comfortable engaging with financial professionals, healthcare administrators, and elder law attorneys. Strong communication skills—including verbal, written, and telephone—are essential, as is competency with various computer applications and office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, and PowerPoint.

Candidates must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to navigate client and community locations. The role occasionally requires standing during group facilitation, lifting files, and visiting clients in their homes. The organization values cultural competency and the ability to work in diverse environments. Additionally, the position requires obtaining Notary Certification within the first 12 months.

This opportunity at Lifespan allows professionals to contribute meaningfully to the financial wellbeing of seniors while developing their own expertise in a mission-driven setting. With no after-hours duties and the possibility of hybrid work, the Engagement Coordinator role strikes a balance between impactful service and work-life balance.
