The role of Electrical Commissioning Engineer I and II within Mortenson's Energy Storage Group offers a dynamic opportunity for electrical professionals to engage in the entire lifecycle of construction projects with a focus on energy storage systems. The Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for providing electrical technical support throughout the construction process. This includes reviewing project requirements, assisting with scope reviews, creating commissioning plans, checklists, and testing protocols, and performing field visits for inspections and tests. The successful candidate will help write issue descriptions and field reports, contribute to system manuals, and support the planning and execution of system tests including NETA, SCADA, and operational verifications. The role requires a flexible, inventive, and dedicated professional capable of working effectively with diverse teams at various organizational levels while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering or similar technical field or equivalent field experience
minimum one year of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with a MEP contractor or commissioning firm
detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
basic understanding of key construction documents and their relationship to construction project management and field executions
basic understanding of how design, construction, start-up, and turnover align within the project delivery process
basic understanding of key construction documents and their relationship to quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC)
fundamental knowledge of commissioning processes and commissioning process delivery
ability to conceptually relate the construction deliverable to the commissioning deliverable
Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
ability to travel 100 percent
bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
minimum three years in electrical construction management or electrical design
utility experience preferred

Job Duties

Reviewing owner project requirements
assist in performing scope reviews
assist in creating commissioning plans, checklists, and tests
performing field visits and observing commissioning inspections and tests where prescribed means and methods are provided
assist in writing issue descriptions and field reports
assist in creating systems manuals
effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
support planning and execution of system tests, including but not limited to NETA, SCADA, controls, and operations verification of energy storage systems
all other duties as assigned
