Job Description

ABM is a leading global provider of integrated facility, engineering, and infrastructure solutions. Established over a century ago in 1909, ABM has grown into one of the world’s largest facility services companies, generating nearly $8 billion in annual revenue and employing over 100,000 team members worldwide. The company serves an extensive array of sectors including commercial real estate, aviation, education, mission-critical environments, manufacturing, and distribution. ABM’s comprehensive services range from janitorial and HVAC to energy management, electrical and lighting, parking, landscaping, and mission-critical solutions. Operating in more than 350 offices throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other international locations, ABM is deeply committed to creating cleaner, safer, healthier, and more sustainable environments. The company also takes pride in fostering diversity and inclusiveness, promoting equal opportunity employment, and providing accommodations to individuals with disabilities.

The role available at ABM is for a qualified professional focused on developing guaranteed energy efficiency projects, renewable energy projects, and other capital improvement projects related to energy savings. This position is salaried within the range of $140,000 to $145,000 annually, with the final offer depending on the applicant’s credentials, experience, skills, location, and alignment with market data. The role involves working closely with sales and project teams to identify, assess, and structure technical and financial solutions that meet customer objectives, primarily targeting the MUSH (Municipal, University, School, and Hospital) markets. Candidates should have significant experience navigating state enabling legislation for energy contracting and a proficiency in the latest technologies driving energy, sustainability, water, and emission savings.

The successful individual will play an instrumental role from the initial feasibility screening of energy efficiency and capital improvement opportunities right through technical due diligence until the project transitions to implementation. Duties include conducting energy audits (ASHRAE Levels 1-3), developing preliminary engineering designs, coordinating with vendors and contractors, managing technical scopes of work, performing risk assessment and mitigation strategies, and helping negotiate contracts. The expert will engage in on-site assessments to collect data and analyze building systems such as chillers, boilers, HVAC, and controls. This leadership role will guide development activities to ensure projects meet budget and time constraints, often requiring detailed analysis and value engineering within the client’s financial parameters.

This position demands strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to interact effectively across organizational boundaries, and excellent organizational capability complemented by proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Prior experience as a developer on energy performance contracting projects, familiarity with utility rebate programs, and skills in measurement and verification methodologies are highly desirable, along with certifications such as PE and CEM providing a competitive advantage. Preferred candidates will have experience working on Energy Savings Improvement Program (ESIP) projects, particularly in New Jersey, along with knowledge of public procurement processes, energy performance contracting, guaranteed savings, and public sector clients like schools and healthcare institutions.

ABM offers a dynamic, forward-looking work environment with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. The company is also deeply invested in supporting military veterans and providing career development opportunities tailored to their unique skills. Joining ABM means becoming part of a forward-thinking organization that is driving the future of facility services and energy solutions globally, with a dedication to creating smarter and more connected spaces. ABM encourages all qualified individuals to apply and become part of a diverse and inclusive workforce contributing to a healthier and more sustainable world.
