The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager role at CF Industries is a critical leadership position within the Blue Point Complex site leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the EHS Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and environmental excellence where employees, contractors, and other stakeholders are engaged, empowered, and motivated to promote safe workplace practices and environmental protection. This role holds multifaceted responsibilities ranging from strategic planning and EHS systems management to team development and communications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies in all relevant aspects — including environmental management, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, process safety, emergency response, security, and quality/laboratory services. The EHS Manager acts as the vital liaison with diverse internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the Blue Point Complex operates in alignment with applicable federal, state, and local laws while maintaining safe and environmentally responsible operations. This leadership position is integral in driving continuous EHS performance improvements, risk mitigation, and organizational change management by leveraging technology, benchmarking efforts, and knowledge sharing. The role demands strategic vision, hands-on leadership presence, and exceptional communication skills to unify the site under shared EHS goals and foster an environment that prioritizes safety and health as core values. Job Requirements

  • Willingness to relocate to the project site and travel globally as needed
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause
  • Work involves climbing ladders, stairs, and use of safety harnesses
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse personnel
  • Ability to deal diplomatically with regulatory authorities

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in safety, process safety, or environmental field
  • Engineering degree in a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental, PSM, or safety fields preferably chemical industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong change management, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated

Job Duties

  • Create a strategic vision for EHS performance and cultural excellence
  • Analyze EHS data, assumptions, resources, constraints, and culture to develop long-range action plans
  • Ensure site-wide understanding and engagement with the EHS vision
  • Measure and report EHS performance with key metrics and benchmarking
  • Establish systems to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate EHS risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Implement audit processes for risk management and compliance assurance
  • Manage EHS knowledge development and training programs
  • Facilitate change management and communication strategies to influence stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain an organizational structure for the EHS team that supports strategy
  • Recruit and develop leadership and technical skills within the EHS team
  • Prepare and administer departmental budget and contribute to facility budgeting
  • Develop key communications and maintain effective channels for internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrate visible site leadership that reinforces EHS as a core value
  • Foster continuous learning from incidents, near misses, and improvement opportunities
