The Education Specialist position at MAOF plays a pivotal role within the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) program, specifically serving the diverse communities of Los Angeles County. This non-exempt, full-time role entails 40 hours per week with an hourly wage ranging from $26.99 to $27.12. Reporting directly to the Program Director or designee, the Education Specialist is responsible for ensuring that childcare environments meet all regulatory compliance requirements set by the California Department of Education and the Early Education Support Division. The primary goal of this role is to enhance the developmental outcomes of children in family childcare homes by providing comprehensive assessment, training, and support services. This involves creating and implementing targeted program activities that cater to the cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth of children.

The Education Specialist will actively monitor multiple family child care homes, conducting rigorous assessments using tools like the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS). These evaluations help ensure that the childcare environments adhere to health, safety, and developmental standards. The Specialist also maintains thorough records of child progress and provider compliance, submits reports detailing compliance and effectiveness, and identifies areas for program improvement. Additionally, this role requires delivering educational workshops and training sessions for both childcare providers and parents focused on child development and best practices in early education.

This position emphasizes collaboration with other childcare resources and social service agencies to provide a network of support for providers and families. Travel within Los Angeles County to various family childcare homes is required, including visits during opening and closing hours to verify adherence to sign-in/out procedures and health regulations. The ideal candidate must be bilingual in Spanish and English and hold a minimum of an Associate Teacher Permit, with at least three years of experience in early childhood education or a related field. Strong computer and data entry skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities, are essential.
