We are currently seeking a committed and energetic individual to join our Education Centre team as an EMS Education Coordinator. This is a full-time position with compensation based on experience, aimed at professionals eager to contribute to the advancement of EMS education within a dynamic and reputable ambulance service provider. The EMS Education Coordinator will work directly under the guidance of the Director of Education Centre and alongside other Education Coordinators to implement and instruct EMS programs developed by Life EMS.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and maintenance of program accreditation, ensuring all training initiatives comply with state and national standards. Additionally, the Coordinator will deliver various educational courses including continuing education and specialty topics such as cardiac, pediatric, and trauma care. This role requires an individual with a passion for teaching and a strong background in prehospital care, able to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to a diverse audience ranging from laypersons to experienced paramedics and healthcare professionals.

The EMS Education Coordinator will also participate in developing course materials, evaluations, and tests to enhance learning outcomes. They will work closely with the Director of Education Centre to achieve departmental goals and quality initiatives, analyze data to identify areas for improvement, and assist in the peer review and coaching of students. The position demands strong leadership, meticulous organizational skills, and the ability to foster a positive, respectful learning environment. Moreover, the Coordinator is expected to fulfill all policy adherence and maintain accurate records as required by the Education Centre.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
  • Must maintain a MDHHS instructor/coordinator certification
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain BLS, PHTLS, ACLS and EPC instructor level certifications
  • Must demonstrate positive, respectful behavior in dealing with people at all levels
  • Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment

Job Qualifications

  • Must maintain a MDHHS instructor/coordinator certification
  • Life EMS Level II Paramedic status preferred
  • Must possess or have ability to obtain BLS, PHTLS, ACLS and EPC instructor level certifications
  • Evidence of significant prehospital care experience along with outstanding leadership and communication skills demonstrating an ability to educate individuals ranging from the lay public to experienced paramedics and other healthcare professionals
  • Interview and evaluation by Life EMS designee
  • Must have outstanding verbal and written skills demonstrating the ability to train others
  • Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment
  • Must demonstrate positive, respectful behavior in dealing with people at all levels
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly encouraged

Job Duties

  • Ensure daily customer happiness
  • Development and implementation of a variety of EMS educational courses, providing direct instruction to students
  • Development and implementation of EMS course quizzes and exams, maintenance of course grades
  • Assist the Director of Education Centre in achieving department goals and educational quality initiatives
  • Review data and compile statistics to spot trends of problem areas that may need to be addressed individually or as a whole with education and training
  • Assist with peer review and constructive critiques of students
  • Assist in researching questions or concerns from local medical control representatives
  • Follow all policies and procedures of the Education Centre
  • Maintain records as directed by policy and the Director of Education Centre or his/her designee
  • Attend meetings as requested by and for the Director of Education Centre to represent Life EMS
  • Perform other duties as assigned
