Job Description

Austin Community College (ACC) is a public two-year institution that serves a diverse and multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each fall and spring semester. The position available is for a Line Cook at Eatery '73 and Grab & Go, which are newly opening teaching restaurants affiliated with Austin Community College. This role is critical in supporting the operational excellence of these establishments by preparing, cooking, and plating dishes while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is kind, positive, and works well with others, valuing quality, consistency, and respect within an inclusive atmosphere. The Line Cook will be a key contributor to maintaining the culinary standards and smooth service operations, ensuring all food preparation aligns with the safety, sanitation, and food handling guidelines mandated by ACC. This hourly position pays $23.00 per hour for up to 19 hours per week, offering a chance to work in an educational and community-oriented setting. Candidates are expected to show a strong attention to detail, be team-oriented, and demonstrate proficiency in kitchen procedures, from mise en place to timely communication during service. In addition to following recipes and maintaining ingredient prep, the Line Cook will contribute to the ongoing success of ACC’s teaching restaurants by participating actively in a professional and quality-driven kitchen environment. This role may occasionally involve other duties to meet business needs as required by ACC Culinary Department policies and operational standards. Job Requirements

  • Education or training in culinary arts or related field preferred
  • previous experience working in a professional kitchen
  • understanding of safety and sanitation regulations

  • must be domicile resident of the State of Texas while employed

Job Duties

  • Cook/prepare plated food in an efficient and timely manner while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines required by the Executive Chef and ACC Culinary Department
  • follow recipe guidelines, procedures, and techniques required by the Executive Chef and ACC Culinary Department
  • adhere to forecasting/par levels and prep levels as set by the Executive Chef
  • communicate with the Executive Chef and coworkers in a professional and timely manner regarding the needs of the business, equipment, and product integrity
  • adhere to and maintain safety and sanitation standards at all times in accordance with ACC Culinary Department's policies and procedures
  • check-in and store incoming orders/products following FIFO and labeling procedures to ensure proper rotation and usage
