Job Description
The Dry Dock is a cherished waterfront restaurant located at 84 Commercial Street in Portland, Maine, known for its scenic views and high-quality dining experience. Originally opened in 1983 and closing in 2018, this two-story establishment has been revitalized and newly reopened in the summer of 2025 by the esteemed Luke's Lobster team. Luke's Lobster, founded in 2009 by Maine native and third-generation lobsterman Luke Holden, has grown into a certified B Corp with over 25 locations across the United States, as well as international locations in Japan and Singapore. The Dry Dock represents an exciting new chapter for the Luke's Lobster team, combining locally sourced seafood with the leadership of Chef Matt Ginn, a "Chopped Champion" with prior experience at Evo and Twelve.
The Dry Dock is a vibrant, multi-floor restaurant featuring expansive outdoor decks, a premier raw bar, and a full beverage program, designed to cater to both visitors and locals who seek a unique and memorable dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, fostering community connections and highlighting responsibly sourced seafood prepared to the highest standards. The reopening brings back a beloved venue with a fresh and revitalized twist, emphasizing quality, sustainability, and guest satisfaction. The restaurant operates with a casual dress code and an energetic front-of-house team passionate about hospitality.
We are seeking passionate and dynamic Front of House Team Members including bartenders, servers, and support staff. These roles are crucial in maintaining the high service standards the Dry Dock is known for while efficiently managing fast-paced and high-volume dining service. Compensation for bartenders and servers starts at $8.38 per hour plus tips, while support staff starts at $9.00 per hour plus tips, reflecting our commitment to rewarding skilled and dedicated team members. Employment comes with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance with company premium contributions, access to a Health Savings Account, supplemental insurance policies, a low-asset fee 401k retirement plan, accrued Maine Earned Leave, and employee discounts.
The Front of House roles involve delivering attentive and friendly service, maintaining a clean and organized environment, accurate order management, and effective team communication to ensure smooth operations throughout the restaurant space. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in a high-energy environment, enjoy working with a team, and have a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Whether you have prior experience or are eager to grow within the hospitality industry, the Dry Dock encourages motivated individuals to apply and be part of a growing company with advancement opportunities. Join us in bringing the iconic Dry Dock back to life with a vibrant and dedicated team committed to excellence in every aspect of service.
