Job Description
The Salvation Army is a global charitable organization and an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ while providing compassionate service to meet human needs without discrimination. With a foundation built upon biblical principles and motivated by the love of God, The Salvation Army strives to uplift communities by addressing both spiritual and material needs. Operating internationally, this nonprofit movement reaches out to marginalized and vulnerable populations, offering vital services including food assistance, shelter, rehabilitation, disaster relief, and various social services. This organization's comprehensive approach combines faith-driven mission work with hands-on aid to foster hope and improve the quality of life for those it serves.\n\nThe available position for a Driver/Warehouse Worker plays a critical role in supporting The Salvation Army's Family Services operations. This full-time, hands-on role focuses on the collection, sorting, and distribution of donated goods, primarily food donations, to clients in need. The driver is responsible for daily pickups from partner agencies and ensuring donations are handled, stored, and distributed properly. In addition to logistical responsibilities, this role requires providing initial client interaction by phone or in person to assess needs and provide assistance or referrals for further support. The Driver/Warehouse Worker also participates actively in weekly food distribution events and various special service programs. Maintaining accurate records of donations and services rendered using Salvation Army software such as WellSky forms an essential part of the role, ensuring transparency and efficiency in managing resources. General administrative tasks including office work, data entry, and client record keeping are integral to the position, requiring dedication to confidentiality and professionalism.\n\nThis position demands physical stamina with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, operate vehicles safely with valid licensing and a clean record, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should bring strong organizational skills, a respectful and courteous manner when engaging with volunteers, clients, and community partners, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment. The role also involves assisting in special administrative programs such as utility and rent assistance and participating in Emergency Disaster Service responses when necessary. The successful candidate will demonstrate maturity, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army. This opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the local community by supporting both immediate relief and long-term support initiatives through a faith-based and socially conscious organization.
