The role of Driver, Trainee Component at McLane is designed to initiate and develop driving careers within a well-established industry leader. Job Requirements
- Possess a Class A CDL
- Be at least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy
- Ability and willingness to select, load, unload and/or deliver all products ordered by McLane customers
- Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations to verify product quantities
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to safely drive a tractor-trailer
- Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job tasks effectively and safely
Job Qualifications

- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English sufficient to perform job tasks effectively and safely
Job Duties
- Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure
- Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
- Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection reports
- Operate Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document delivery receipts, product temperatures, and exceptions
- Ride and train with Driver Trainer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations and driving skills
- Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt and product exceptions
- Assist Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises
- Provide customer service including on-time delivery, managing product returns, and issuing valid customer credits
- Perform other duties as assigned
