Rooted in the distribution industry, McLane has built an expansive nationwide network that serves clients in the restaurant, retail, and e-commerce industries, offering reliable and efficient supply chain solutions. The company has maintained its position as an industry leader by embracing innovation, incorporating the latest technology into their practices, and fostering a people-centered culture that values and supports its team members. McLane prides itself on its dedication to safety, reliability, and the development of long-lasting careers for its employees. With a strong emphasis on employee well-being, McLane offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits that underscore its commitment to its workforce.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at McLane is a vital position that supports America's favorite brands by ensuring the timely and safe transportation of goods. This role is designed for drivers with a valid Class A commercial driver's license who are dedicated to safety and reliability. The position offers industry-leading pay, with drivers earning between $65,000 and $85,000 in their first year on average. McLane values work-life balance and offers options such as team driving and schedules that allow drivers to be home daily or not home every night, depending on the assignment. New hires receive immediate access to benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as life insurance paid by the company. Additionally, the role includes paid holidays, the opportunity to earn vacation time and sick leave from day one, and access to a 401(k) profit-sharing plan after just 90 days of employment.
In this role, CDL-A Delivery Drivers are responsible for inspecting their tractor-trailer before and after trips, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations by submitting thorough inspection reports. They verify the accuracy of bills of lading and store keys, especially for off-hour deliveries, to maintain smooth operational flow. Drivers apply their knowledge of driving regulations and vehicle maneuvering skills to transport goods safely to their destinations and on customer premises. They also maintain detailed logs manually or using electronic systems like Peoplenet, document product temperatures, and report any exceptions that occur during delivery. Unloading products at customer locations and performing other assigned duties complete the scope of their daily responsibilities.
Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL-A license, and have at least one year or 50,000 miles of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience. McLane requires that applicants meet their motor vehicle record (MVR) and risk rating standards. Furthermore, the position demands proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English to ensure safe and effective communication of work instructions and safety protocols. The ideal teammate embodies qualities such as safety-focus, reliability, adaptability, and dedication to their work. McLane fosters a supportive and inclusive working environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds receive equal consideration for employment. Prospective employees may be subject to background checks and drug screenings in compliance with applicable laws, reaffirming McLane's commitment to a safe and responsible workplace.
