The current opportunity is for a Geo-Mapping Driver on a full-time, contract basis, specifically designed for a 3-6 month engagement. This role involves a vital position within one of the world's largest technology companies, renowned for its groundbreaking innovations in mapping and geographic information systems. The Geo-Mapping Driver will be responsible for capturing high-quality, street-level imagery that contributes directly to updating and expanding the company's globally utilized mapping products. This self-employed (1099) role requires operating a specialized vehicle equipped with advanced camera equipment to capture accurate and detailed geographic data. Flexibility is essential as the job demands travel, including overnight stays in various locations away from the candidate's home base.

The successful candidate will be provided with a fully equipped vehicle and will have all project-related expenses such as gas, travel, and lodging reimbursed. Compensation is attractive, with an hourly wage of $20. Job Requirements

  • Must reside in or near the advertised location and be able to commit to the full contract period
  • Hold a full clean U.S. driving license and be able to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to secure safe overnight parking for the specialized vehicle eg locked garage or secure parking
  • Must be comfortable with frequent travel including flights and overnight stays often with short notice
  • Physically able to access the vehicle's roof to adjust camera equipment

Job Duties

  • Safely operate a specialized vehicle to capture street-level imagery adhering to assigned routes schedules and daily weekly distance targets
  • Conduct daily vehicle and equipment safety checks including a mandatory breathalyzer test and perform routine maintenance
  • Accurately complete all required daily and weekly reports on progress quality control and time logs using a smartphone
  • Manage logistics for vehicle collection drop off which may require air travel and be available for overnight mapping assignments away from your home base
  • Represent the project professionally and courteously when interacting with the public
