The Driver position at Arkansas Foodbank is a vital role within the operations team, responsible for the safe operation of company-owned and leased trucks tasked with the pickup and delivery of food supplies. This role involves adherence to Arkansas Foodbank guidelines to maximize efficiency and safety in all transportation activities. Reporting to the Transportation Manager or Chief Operating Officer, the Driver works under general supervision but must exhibit the ability to function independently while maintaining strong lines of communication with team members.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with learning and utilizing technology, including Arkansas Foodbank's software systems, to streamline delivery processes. The Driver will also play a key role in preserving positive relationships with donors and community partners by consistently delivering orders punctually and conducting all duties in a courteous and professional manner. This position demands frequent adherence to safety protocols, including compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations, detailed pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, and maintaining all certifications required by these regulatory bodies.

In addition to transportation responsibilities, the Driver will assist in material handling tasks such as unloading food products from trucks and transferring goods to designated storage areas such as coolers, freezers, and warehouses. An understanding of road laws and vehicle maintenance is essential to report any mechanical issues promptly and assist in coordinating necessary repairs. The role also requires the flexibility to occasionally work irregular hours to support organizational needs during peak periods or cover staff absences.

Safety and professionalism are paramount, with the expectation that the Driver maintains a valid commercial driver's license (Class B required, Class A preferred), a clean driving record, and current DOT physical card at all times. With an ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a collaborative team, the Driver must exhibit effective communication skills, a commitment to hunger relief, and the resilience to work in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
