The role of a Driver within Trio-Community Meals is a critical position responsible for the safe and timely transportation of community meals and related materials. Operating primarily onsite in Lafayette, Louisiana, this full-time position requires a committed and skilled professional who adheres strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations along with all applicable state and local traffic laws. The driver will utilize company vehicles to deliver meals, ensuring that all transit routes run smoothly and deadlines are met. The role involves routine inspection of vehicles before and after trips to maintain high standards of safety and reliability.
Drivers will maintain consistent communication with dispatch and other team members to quickly handle any route issues, such as traffic delays or vehicle concerns, ensuring continuous service without disruption. This role demands excellent customer service skills, as drivers are often the face of Trio-Community Meals to our recipients and must represent the company professionally. Additionally, drivers will be required to manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating flexibility and organizational skills.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid state driver’s license for commercial vehicles or a medical card from an approved DOT medical examiner
- An acceptable driving record
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Excellent customer service skills
- Physical ability to perform inspections and handle driving duties
- Willingness to work onsite full-time

- At least one year of commercial driving experience preferred
Job Duties
- Transporting materials to and from assigned destinations in a safe and effective manner, complying with all DOT rules and regulations alongside state and city traffic laws
- Complete thorough inspections of any utilized company equipment, before and after each trip
- Keep open communication with dispatch to ensure notification of any issues or delays on the route
- Provide excellent customer service during all interactions
- Manage multiple tasks effectively throughout the workday
- Adhere to company safety protocols and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle inspections
