Job Description

Creative Dining Services at Washtenaw Community College is a dynamic food service provider dedicated to delivering high-quality dining experiences in an educational environment. As part of Washtenaw Community College, which serves a diverse student population and faculty through innovative educational programs, the Creative Dining Services team plays a critical role in ensuring that campus dining facilities operate smoothly and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. This organization is committed to fostering a welcoming atmosphere that supports the health and well-being of its campus community by offering fresh, nutritious, and diverse food options in a clean and pleasant setting.

The role of Dishwashers and Utility Workers in Creative Dining Services is a fundamental position focused on maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas. This part-time position offers a schedule from Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., totaling less than 28 hours per week. The key responsibilities include washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and equipment to meet approved sanitation standards, returning cleaned items to their designated locations, sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning duties throughout the kitchen and dining areas. Additionally, the position requires ensuring trash bins are cleaned and emptied as needed and assisting with maintaining the cleanliness of the back of house areas.

This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment, where attention to detail and dedication to maintaining a sanitary workplace are highly valued. While a High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, it is not required, making this an accessible opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in a kitchen environment. Previous experience in similar roles is desirable but not mandatory, as training is provided to ensure all workers meet the Creative Dining Services' high standards.

This position is part-time and offers an excellent opportunity to engage with a community-focused institution while contributing to a vital operational function. Working hours are consistent and structured, allowing for a predictable work-life balance. Candidates will have the chance to develop skills in sanitation, teamwork, and operational efficiency in a supportive setting. Creative Dining Services values its employees and provides an environment where safety, professionalism, and respect are prioritized. Joining the team means becoming part of a mission to support the Washtenaw Community College community through exceptional food service operations.
