Job Description

Community Memorial Healthcare is a well-respected, community-owned not-for-profit health system based in Ventura County, California. Established in 2005 through the merger of Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura and Ojai Valley Community Hospital, it includes these two hospitals alongside a network of primary and specialty care health centers serving various communities across west Ventura County. The health system prides itself on being community-driven and not influenced by corporate or government entities; it prioritizes the communities it serves above all else. Community Memorial Healthcare has earned recognition for its outstanding patient care, recently receiving the 2026 Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades, which ranks it among the top 15 percent of hospitals nationwide and one of only thirteen recognized hospitals in Southern California. This accreditation highlights the exemplary, compassionate care provided by its dedicated teams.

The position available is a vital role within the food service sector of Community Memorial Healthcare, focusing on kitchen and café service needs, dishwashing, sanitation, and adherence to proper sanitation procedures. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and efficient food service environment that supports the hospital’s mission of delivering extraordinary patient care. Apart from executing tasks related to kitchen operations, this role demands excellent customer service skills, as interacting courteously and helpfully with patients, visitors, and staff members is a daily requirement. The pay scale for this position ranges from $21.00 to $25.88 per hour, with considerations for pay placement based on specific skills, qualifications, and experience. Generally, new employees may start below the midpoint of the salary range.

Candidates ideally bring at least one month of customer service experience, with preferred qualifications including a high school diploma or GED, one or more years of hospital or restaurant experience, and knowledge of therapeutic diets. This ensures that the candidate understands the unique dietary needs often required in a healthcare setting. The role is well-suited for individuals looking to grow within a healthcare environment and contribute to a team that prioritizes exceptional patient and community service. Community Memorial Healthcare emphasizes ongoing learning and professionalism, offering career development opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and a welcoming workplace committed to diversity and inclusion.

As an equal opportunity employer, Community Memorial Healthcare fosters an inclusive environment where diversity of thought, experience, and background is encouraged, enabling exceptional people to come together and find meaningful work and connection in supporting the health of their local community. This food service role is integral in supporting the broader mission of the health system to offer compassionate, award-winning care to all patients and community members served within its network.
