Job Description

Dandelion Chocolate is a renowned bean-to-bar chocolate factory located in San Francisco's Mission District. Known for its dedication to quality and authenticity, Dandelion Chocolate crafts chocolate made from only two simple ingredients - cocoa beans and cane sugar. The company prides itself on its transparent and ethical approach, regularly traveling to the origins of the beans to build trustworthy and sustainable relationships with the producers and farmers responsible for growing and fermenting them. This commitment to quality and ethics has helped Dandelion Chocolate establish itself as a leader in the artisanal chocolate industry, attracting chocolate lovers from across the region and beyond.

Dandelion Chocolate also operates a cozy café on Valencia Street, creating a unique space where guests can experience the brand’s signature chocolates alongside a carefully curated menu of drinks and pastries. The café itself thrives on creating a warm and welcoming environment, which directly reflects the passion and dedication of the staff. It is within this community-driven, quality-focused culture that the company is currently seeking a full-time Dishwasher and Busser to join the Valencia Café team.

As a Dishwasher and Busser at Dandelion Chocolate, your role is integral to the smooth operation of the café. You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of dishware, kitchen areas, and the dining space, supporting both front-of-house and kitchen teams. This role demands a proactive attitude and a hands-on approach, where you consistently anticipate the needs of your teammates and customers alike. For instance, you might identify potential hazards such as boxes obstructing hallways and take action to clear them, or promptly clean up spills to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for everyone. On any given shift, you'll be expected to bus tables, clear and wash dishes efficiently, restock supplies, and help close the café with thorough cleaning and tidying tasks.

Working hours are set from Tuesday through Thursday, 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and Friday through Saturday, 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, offering a structured schedule that allows for consistency and work-life balance. The position pays $21 per hour plus tips, providing a competitive wage for entry-level hospitality roles in the San Francisco area.

In addition to the essential cleaning and organizational duties, the dishwasher and busser role also involves maintaining the overall ambiance of the café by supporting the hospitality team in delivering exceptional guest experiences. This means ensuring that dish bins are cleared regularly, dishware is available and restocked, and any equipment malfunctions are reported promptly to the General Manager. Physical stamina is a key requirement, as the job involves repetitive movements such as standing, bending, lifting, and walking over long periods.

Dandelion Chocolate fosters a team-oriented culture where collaboration is vital. As part of this, the Dishwasher and Busser is expected to contribute to the closure activities that keep the café orderly and ready for the next day. Beyond the scope of these duties, flexibility to assist with other tasks as needed demonstrates a willingness to be an invaluable team member.

Overall, this role offers the chance to work in a unique, values-driven environment within San Francisco’s vibrant food scene. Employees benefit from a strong sense of community and a company that values sustainable practices and employee well-being. Whether you are an experienced hospitality worker or someone new to the food industry, the Dishwasher and Busser position at Dandelion Chocolate offers an opportunity to grow alongside a passionate and dedicated team.
