The role of Dish Room Attendant at American Dining Creations is a vital kitchen support position that focuses on maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen environment. This role is essential for supporting the kitchen staff by managing dishwashing duties and performing various janitorial tasks that keep the kitchen functional and efficient. As a Dish Room Attendant, your duties will include washing dishes, pots, and utensils using both dish machines and manual methods when necessary. You will manage and maintain designated dish areas, ensuring they are free from clutter and properly organized. This includes appropriately storing clean dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers. The role requires strict attention to maintaining proper temperature, water levels, and chemical dilutions in dish machines and sinks to comply with health and safety standards and business demands. Beyond dishwashing, this position also involves janitorial responsibilities such as bussing tables, emptying trash cans, sweeping, mopping, and breaking down boxes to maintain a clean workspace.
The Dish Room Attendant may also assist with food preparation and the breakdown and cleanup of food stations, contributing to the overall kitchen workflow. This position requires good time management skills and the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull heavy carts, and the endurance to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for the duration of your shift. This role is detail-oriented, dependable, and thorough, ensuring the kitchen area reflects high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a dishroom or kitchen environment is an asset but not mandatory
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks required
- Strong communication skills to understand instructions and safety procedures
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team

Job Duties
- Sorts and washes dishes, pots, and utensils with a dish machine and 3-compartment sink
- Responsible for designated dish areas
- keeps dish area free of clutter and organized
- Properly stores clean dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers
- Maintains proper temperatures, water levels, and chemical dilutions of dish machines and sinks as needed or as required by business levels
- Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots, and delicate items)
- Maintains clean and dry floors throughout the shift
- Accurately assists in the timely storing of food deliveries while maintaining the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves
- Completes various janitorial tasks including bussing tables, emptying trash cans, sweeping, mopping, and breaking down boxes
- May assist with food preparation and food station breakdown and cleanup
- May be assigned other duties and responsibilities as needed
