The company fosters a dynamic work environment powered by a team comprising individuals from various minds, backgrounds, and experiences. 16 On Center is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, actively encouraging candidates from all walks of life to apply, ensuring equal opportunities without regard to race, religion, color, age, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, neurodiversity, disability, veteran status, or any characteristic protected by law.
Within this exciting ecosystem of entertainment and hospitality, The Salt Shed is an integral venue operated by 16 On Center, located in Chicago. The Salt Shed stands out as a fast-paced, high-volume concert venue where exceptional guest experience is paramount. To support the seamless operation of the kitchen and back-of-house activities, The Salt Shed is currently seeking dependable and team-oriented Dishwashers. This full-time, hourly position offers a competitive wage of $19 per hour and plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and operational flow within high-energy service environments.
The Dishwasher at The Salt Shed is responsible for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans efficiently using commercial dishwashing equipment. The role requires maintaining a clean and organized dish station throughout shifts, ensuring that clean dishware is rotated promptly back to service lines for uninterrupted guest service. The Dishwasher also handles waste disposal, including garbage and recycling management, and performs routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and maintaining kitchen floors, mats, walls, and surfaces.
Candidates in this role often assist with receiving and stocking deliveries, basic prep tasks, and maintaining clear communication with kitchen management regarding any equipment issues or supply needs. All activities are performed within compliance frameworks guided by food safety, sanitation, and health codes.
Ideal candidates will have minimal prior experience but must possess a valid Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain one upon hire. Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, roughly from 4:00 PM until close near 11:00 PM, is essential. The role demands physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds in a fast-paced and often warm kitchen environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, steam, and food allergens.
Joining The Salt Shed and 16 On Center means becoming part of a team where your work directly enhances the concert and dining experiences of thousands of guests. The company values teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude, fostering a workplace where every employee’s contribution is respected and celebrated. As a Dishwasher, you will learn the rhythms of a busy kitchen, support your colleagues, and contribute to the high standards that make The Salt Shed and 16 On Center standout venues in the competitive hospitality and entertainment industry. With generous benefits including paid leave, health insurance with employer contributions, 401(k) retirement plans, dining discounts across properties, and transit benefits, this position offers both professional growth and a supportive work-life balance environment.
