The Salt Shed is a dynamic indoor and outdoor music venue and entertainment hub located in Chicago's West Town neighborhood. Situated along the Chicago River, the venue occupies the historic Morton Salt factory, a landmark that has been part of the city's skyline for nearly a century.

After the factory ceased operations in 2015, a collaborative effort transformed the 4.2-acre site into a vibrant cultural destination.

Venue Layout and Capacity

The venue comprises two main areas: The Shed and The Fairgrounds. The Shed is an indoor space with a capacity of 3,600 people, featuring a state-of-the-art sound system by L-Acoustics and multi-level ticketing tiers to enhance the concert experience.

The Fairgrounds, the outdoor section, can accommodate up to 5,000 attendees and offers panoramic views of the Chicago skyline.

Events and Performances

Since opening, The Salt Shed has hosted a diverse array of musical acts, including Big Gigantic, Bishop Briggs, Brent Faiyaz, and Death Cab for Cutie.

Beyond concerts, the venue has been a hub for events such as EEEEEATSCON, a food festival, and "Crying at the Shed," a Valentine's Day film festival featuring tearjerkers and musical performances.

Dining and Entertainment Options

The Salt Shed provides a variety of dining and entertainment options, including:

• Elston Electric, a family-friendly arcade and tavern located in the former factory boiler room, offering classic and modern games alongside a full bar and food menu.
• The Goose Island Salt Shed Pub, featuring a riverside patio with a selection of Goose Island beers and a diverse menu.
• The Three Top Lounge, situated at the highest point of the building, offering panoramic skyline views, a cocktail bar, and elevated bites.

Additionally, The Salt Shed hosts a rotating mix of Chicago’s finest eateries and retail shops such as Pizza Friendly Pizza, Bumbu Roux, Cafe Tola, All Together Now, Funeral Potatoes, Picnic, and Lao Peng You.

The venue also features Umbrella Vintage, Loud Pizza Records, Fret 12, and RISE Dispensary, providing a comprehensive entertainment experience for visitors.
