Job Description
Port City Logistics is a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider committed to delivering exceptional warehousing and transportation services to its clients across multiple industries. With a strong emphasis on operational excellence, Port City Logistics has built a reputation for reliability, efficiency, and safety. The company operates multiple warehouse facilities and transportation networks, ensuring seamless supply chain operations while maintaining stringent safety and compliance standards. Port City Logistics fosters a culture focused on continuous improvement, employee well-being, and community engagement. It values diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities to all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected status.
The Director of Safety & Compliance position is a critical leadership role that reports directly to the Chief HR & Compliance Officer. This role is responsible for overseeing enterprise-wide safety, compliance, corporate security, and risk management initiatives within the company’s dynamic 3PL environment. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in OSHA regulations, warehouse and transportation safety programs, and risk mitigation strategies. They will lead a high-performing team dedicated to fostering a proactive safety culture that minimizes injuries and operational risks.
This role requires partnering closely with operations leadership to ensure a balance between maintaining strict safety and compliance protocols and achieving operational efficiency. The Director will lead efforts to ensure OSHA compliance across warehouse operations by driving injury prevention, conducting incident investigations, and managing comprehensive safety training programs. Additionally, the role includes oversight of DOT and FMCSA compliance programs within the transportation division, ensuring that driver qualification, hours of service, drug and alcohol testing, and fleet safety standards are strictly adhered to.
Corporate security responsibilities include managing physical security, access control, and loss prevention initiatives across all facilities. The Director will conduct facility risk assessments and oversee incident investigations to safeguard company assets and personnel. Managing claims related to general liability, property damage, and bodily injury is another important aspect, partnering with insurance carriers and brokers to reduce loss exposure and analyzing trends to implement preventive actions.
The working environment for this role is primarily warehouse-based, involving moderate noise levels, well-ventilated and well-lit conditions, and adherence to protective clothing and safety regulations. Physical demands include lifting packages up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and operating machinery such as forklifts. Light-duty options may be available for suitable candidates.
Port City Logistics is committed to supporting its employees and fostering a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace. This is a full-time, leadership role ideal for a seasoned safety and compliance professional eager to make a significant impact within a fast-growing logistics company.
