Job Description
A fast-growing, family-owned food manufacturer located in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Warehouse Operations to lead and oversee warehouse, inventory, and third-party logistics (3PL) operations across multiple manufacturing facilities and distribution partners. This company, recognized for its commitment to quality food production and innovation, operates in a complex manufacturing environment including cold storage and temperature-controlled processes. As a family-owned business, the company values a strong sense of community, collaboration, and a people-centric culture, fostering an environment that encourages growth and development for its employees.
The Director of Warehouse Operations position is a highly visible leadership role critical to driving operational excellence throughout the company’s warehouse and logistics functions. This role carries significant responsibility for improving inventory accuracy, streamlining warehouse performance, and implementing scalable processes that support continued expansion and efficiency across the organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing multi-site warehouse operations while partnering with external 3PL providers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
This leadership position works cross-functionally with various departments such as Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, and Finance, playing a key role in aligning warehouse operations with overall business objectives. The Director will lead efforts in building a high-accountability culture characterized by collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. The role requires someone who can effectively lead organizational change in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and who thrives on driving measurable improvements.
A strong focus will be placed on leveraging data, analytics, and artificial intelligence tools to enhance decision-making, visibility, and overall operational performance. The company is seeking a results-oriented professional who combines a process-driven approach with a high emotional intelligence to foster teamwork and develop talent within the warehouse and logistics teams. This role offers the opportunity to shape the infrastructure of a growing company while promoting industry best practices in warehouse operations and inventory control.
Candidates with extensive experience in food manufacturing or other complex manufacturing industries with temperature-controlled environments will find this role particularly well-suited to their skills. In addition to overseeing warehouse management systems (WMS), the Director will also play a key role in enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation and optimization, with a preference for those with experience in Oracle Fusion.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys the challenge of building structures that improve operational efficiency and who thrives in environments that demand quick decision-making and accountability. This opportunity includes relocation support and is perfect for a seasoned professional aiming to make a significant impact within a respected and rapidly growing food manufacturing company.
