Job Description

Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. Through initiatives focused on work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, JA of Southeast Texas offers students hands-on programs that empower them to take control of their economic future. As an established and respected organization within the Southeast Texas community, JA partners with schools, businesses, and volunteers to create impactful learning experiences that foster critical skills for youth success. The organization thrives on a commitment to education, community engagement, and innovative program delivery, making it a leader in youth development in the region.

The Director of Special Events at JA of Southeast Texas plays a crucial role in advancing the mission by managing comprehensive special events that drive fundraising and community engagement. This leadership position requires self-motivated ownership to oversee multiple high-profile events, including peer-to-peer fundraisers like Trivia Bowls, third-party fundraising events, the annual Hall of Achievement gala, three golf tournaments, and a clay shoot. The Director ensures that every event is strategically planned, well organized, and executed within budget while exceeding fundraising targets. Collaborating closely with committee members, volunteers, internal staff, and corporate partners, the Director spearheads fundraising efforts by increasing revenue through corporate and individual sponsorships and developing a robust donor pipeline.

This role demands expertise in managing diverse event logistics from planning and marketing to day-of execution, including evenings and weekends event coordination. The Director manages invoicing, collects aged receivables, and maintains data integrity within the constituent management database. Key responsibilities also include preparing marketing collateral, fundraising support materials, and social media content to promote events and JA’s impact. The Director regularly communicates with event committees and external partners to align objectives and foster enthusiasm and integrity. They proactively identify in-kind donation prospects, assess opportunities for new events or partnerships, and cultivate a strong stewardship practice with donors and prospects.

With a salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 annually based on experience, the position offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and professional development support. This role is ideal for candidates with 3-5 years of special events or sales experience or a related bachelor’s degree, who thrive in public speaking, goal-driven environments, and community-focused organizations. The Director of Special Events directly impacts JA of Southeast Texas’s capacity to enhance the lives of young people through vital fundraising and community engagement initiatives.
