The company is currently seeking a highly capable and motivated Sales Director to manage their sales operations across the western United States, specifically overseeing territories in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and several other western states. The Sales Director role is a leadership position focused on managing both a team of 3 to 5 sales professionals with varying levels of experience and a personal book of business on the West Coast. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring, motivating, and training sales staff to achieve and exceed both individual and team sales targets. They will play an instrumental role in establishing clear, targeted goals tailored to each employee and product line, conducting regular performance reviews, and offering recommendations to senior leadership regarding sales staffing needs. They will also ensure that all sales policies and procedures are followed to maintain high-quality customer service and effective sales practices.

In addition to internal team management, the Sales Director is expected to maintain a hands-on approach by traveling alongside sales representatives to visit key accounts, thereby strengthening client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. Attendance at industry association shows and exhibits is also a vital component of the role, allowing the director to explore new markets and drive business expansion.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years experience selling value-added food and nutritional ingredients on the West Coast USA
  • Minimum of 2 years managing at least 2 salespeople
  • Excellent written, verbal, and group communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and multitasking ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Willingness to travel within the territory
  • Ability to establish and implement goals
  • Experience in mentoring and training sales staff

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 10 years experience selling value-added food and nutritional ingredients on the West Coast USA
  • Minimum of 2 years managing at least 2 salespeople
  • Excellent written, verbal, and group communication skills
  • Collaborative, problem solving, good communication and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented and multitasking is a must
  • Complete computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Salesforce, etc)

Job Duties

  • Manage 3 to 5 sales professionals with various levels of experience as well as manage own book of business on the West Coast
  • Mentor, motivate, and train the sales professionals as needed
  • Travel with the sales reps to visit accounts as needed
  • Establish and implement employee-specific and product line-specific goals
  • Perform periodic personnel reviews with sales representatives to assess progress towards sales and sales activity goals
  • Make recommendations to President on sales staffing needs
  • Understand and support established sales policies and procedures to ensure sales personnel provide proper and effective treatment to customers
  • Apply knowledge of company products and services to assist sales representatives with providing quality customer service
  • Attend association shows and exhibits to explore new opportunities and expansion of business
  • Develop and maintain an effective sales department through the selection, training, motivation, termination, and review of outside and inside sales and marketing staff
