The Director of Sales at Courtyard by Marriott San Jose North/Silicon Valley plays a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the hotel’s revenue growth and achieving financial targets. This full-time management position commands a competitive salary of $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The Director of Sales focuses on spearheading strategic sales and marketing initiatives that enhance the hotel's market share and profitability. They are responsible for securing business from a variety of market segments, including corporate clients, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal groups), LNR (Local Non-Residential), and events.

This role requires a dynamic and results-driven professional who excels in relationship building, contract negotiation, and team leadership. The Director of Sales will work closely with the hotel's General Manager, Revenue Manager, and Operations team to optimize hotel occupancy and average rates, ensuring seamless coordination across departments to deliver outstanding guest experiences. The position also involves leading and mentoring the sales team to meet and exceed sales goals, while maintaining a proactive approach to prospecting and client management. Comprehensive sales and marketing plans are developed and executed to maximize revenue streams from rooms, catering, and event spaces.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a hotel sales environment, with proven expertise in meeting or surpassing revenue goals and a strong understanding of Marriott’s systems and brand standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills, combined with strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, are essential to succeed in this role. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, marketing, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of sales management experience in the hotel industry
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving sales targets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel locally and work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with sales and marketing software and Marriott brand systems
  • Ability to lead and mentor a sales team effectively
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and negotiation skills

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Director of Sales or strong Senior Sales Manager in a hotel environment
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and sales targets
  • Experience securing corporate, group, and event business across multiple market segments

Job Duties

  • Drive revenue growth by achieving budgeted goals for rooms, catering, and events through proactive sales strategies and market engagement
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans to exceed revenue and occupancy targets
  • Secure corporate, SMERF, LNR, and event business through prospecting, relationship-building, and strategic negotiations
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, travel partners, and meeting planners to generate repeat and new business
  • Analyze market trends, competitive data, and demand forecasts to adjust pricing and sales strategies
  • Manage and grow key accounts to maximize long-term partnerships and revenue opportunities
  • Negotiate contracts, rates, and function space to ensure profitability and compliance with hotel policies
