Job Description

Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is a leading energy company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Diversified Energy Company PLC, a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the ticker symbol "DEC". DGOC operates primarily in the natural gas and oil sector, with a focus on managing producing conventional and unconventional natural gas and oil wells, as well as midstream pipelines and compression stations. Their operations are concentrated in the Appalachian Basin region of the United States, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, in 2021, DGOC expanded its operations into the Central Regional Focus Area, covering producing areas in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, DGOC is recognized for its commitment to safety and operational excellence within the energy industry.

The Director of Safety role at DGOC plays a critical leadership position by spearheading all safety-related initiatives enterprise-wide for Diversified Energy Company. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety, the position is based in downtown Houston. This role carries significant responsibility, focusing on eliminating safety risks through robust safety programs, policies, and procedures, while communicating safety strategies and vision effectively across the company. The Director will develop and maintain safety systems compliant with ANSI Z-10, establish standard operating procedures, and promote a strong safety culture organization-wide.

This role demands comprehensive oversight of the Safety Leadership Committee, corporate safety teams, and close collaboration with field safety specialists and EHS managers. The Director is responsible for tracking and analyzing safety statistics, including Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) rates and Potential Serious Injury and Fatality (PSIF) metrics, leveraging business intelligence dashboards to enable data-driven decisions. Further responsibilities include the use of advanced learning techniques such as micro-learning, video content, and workgroups to enhance training and engagement in safety meetings. The Director will also harness artificial intelligence tools to improve the efficiency and management of safety data and workflows.

Key operational duties include managing enterprise safety software implementation and maintaining critical safety programs such as gas monitor and flame-resistant clothing (FR) clothing programs. This leader will play a pivotal role in contractor safety oversight, including administration of ISNetworld programs, and will provide guidance to field operations leaders on safety and environmental matters. Proactive engagement with regulatory agency inquiries and continual mentoring of operational teams underscores the importance of this position.

Travel is required for this role, typically around 25% with the possibility of up to 50% during initial training, to maintain a field presence and directly address challenges in diverse operational locations. Overall, the Director of Safety is integral to advancing the organization's safety culture, ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and supporting corporate strategies to promote a safe and sustainable work environment across all DGOC activities. This leadership opportunity offers the chance to influence safety at multiple levels within a dynamic and growing energy company.
