The position of Director of Nutrition Services plays an integral role in the district by overseeing the food and nutrition programs that support student health and wellness. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring that all nutrition services comply with state and federal guidelines while promoting nutritious food options that enhance students’ academic performance and well-being. The role offers a 242-day contract with 24 vacation days, working 8 hours a day. The salary range for this position is competitive, from $110,684 to $171,657 depending on qualifications and experience. The role becomes available starting July 1, 2027, and reports directly to the Assistant Business Administrator/Director of Finance.

The Director of Nutrition Services is responsible for directing and managing a broad range of nutrition and food service programs throughout the Timpanogos School District. This requires collaboration with internal colleagues and external partners such as auditors, public agencies, and community stakeholders to maintain and improve service delivery. The director will plan, execute, and evaluate programs to ensure they meet all nutritional, health, and safety standards, as well as budgetary and regulatory requirements. This position also involves personnel management duties including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff to maintain a productive and compliant team.

In this role, the Director will facilitate meetings and workshops aimed at addressing challenges, developing strategies, and representing the district’s nutrition services interests. Conducting regular inspections of cafeterias to ensure sanitary and healthful conditions is essential, as is managing various programs to maintain compliance with established regulations. Budget responsibility is a significant part of this role, requiring close monitoring of allocations, expenditures, and fund balances to ensure financial stability and adherence to fiscal practices. The position demands a proactive approach to researching new nutrition products, safety requirements, laws, and regulations to keep the district’s services up to date and effective.

Serving as a member of the district’s leadership team, the Director of Nutrition Services will present information to various stakeholders related to budget, accounting processes, and distribution formulas, ensuring transparency and fostering feedback to continually improve services. Job Duties

  • Collaborates with internal and external personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and programs
  • Directs department operations and the maintenance of services and implementation of new programs and processes
  • Facilitates meetings and workshops to identify issues, develop recommendations, and serve as a district representative
  • Inspects cafeterias to ensure healthful and sanitary conditions
  • Manages a wide variety of programs to ensure district compliance with established guidelines
  • Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities
  • Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars to convey and gather information
  • Performs personnel functions such as interviewing, evaluating and supervising staff
  • Presents information on budget and accounting processes to ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Recommends new hires, promotions, termination and transfers
  • Researches topics such as new products, safety requirements and laws for recommendations
