With a steadfast commitment to providing best-in-class education, Perkins serves as a beacon of hope and support for children with disabilities globally. Beyond education, the organization offers immersive training and support for professionals and families, advocates for inclusion, and drives innovation to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. Rooted in values of courage, collaboration, and ownership, Perkins fosters a supportive community where every team member's contribution makes a tangible difference. The organization is strategically located in the heart of Watertown, adjacent to the scenic Charles River and close to the vibrant Arsenal Yards, providing an inspiring and accessible work environment.
The role of Director of Food Services and Stores at Perkins is a critical leadership position tasked with overseeing campus culinary and inventory operations. This role orchestrates the entire food service program, campus-wide catering, and non-perishable product management for all Perkins programs and departments. The Director is responsible for ensuring that kitchens meet rigorous food safety and quality standards, while aligning operations with Perkins' high standards, OSHA regulations, and state and federal public health laws. Collaborating closely with the school's Nutritionist, the Director helps develop and update inclusive and nutritious menus for students, clients, and staff.
This position demands a dynamic leader with operational savvy, financial prudence, and a passion for fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing multi-unit kitchen operations, with a strong emphasis on food safety, budget management, and staff development. As an empathetic leader, the Director is entrusted with hiring, training, and evaluating a diverse team including an Assistant Director, Storeroom Manager, Food Service Cooks, and Storeroom Operators. They spearhead initiatives to standardize menu execution, optimize procurement and stock management, and develop strategic plans based on operational metrics and financial analysis.
The role comes with a competitive salary range of $91,500 to $129,225, reflecting the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Perkins offers a comprehensive benefits package for both part-time and full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, wellness programs, health reimbursement arrangements, flexible spending accounts, employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, tuition reimbursement from day one, paid time off, and other valuable perks such as employee recognition programs and legal services.
Joining Perkins means becoming part of a mission-driven organization that values diversity, inclusion, and the well-being of its employees. The Director of Food Services and Stores will find a workplace culture committed to growth, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of children with disabilities and their families.
