This position is with a premier luxury destination resort located on Florida's Gulf Coast, recognized as one of the region's largest and most complex hospitality operations. The resort is a prestigious full-service property known for its expansive amenities and sophisticated environment. Guests enjoy access to nearly 800 luxurious guestrooms, 15 unique food and beverage concepts including an expansive food hall, championship golf courses, luxury spa facilities, multiple resort pools, and a wide array of recreational options designed to meet the high expectations of discerning travelers. With an annual revenue exceeding $85 million, the resort operates a fully decentralized accounting structure that requires expert financial leadership to drive ongoing success and profitability.

The role of Director of Finance is an Executive Committee position that calls for a strategic and experienced hospitality finance professional ready to lead a high-performing finance organization. This position provides critical oversight and strategic financial guidance across all facets of the resort's operation. The Director of Finance will partner closely with the General Manager and other key executives to steer financial performance, ensure operational excellence, and contribute to long-term business planning. This role involves managing all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and risk management functions while maintaining rigorous internal controls and compliance with corporate policies and accounting standards.

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing a team of eight finance professionals, including the Assistant Director of Finance, Payroll Manager, Accounts Payable and Receivable Associates, and a Staff Accountant. Leadership skills are essential to mentor, develop, and maintain a motivated team that upholds accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of decentralized hotel accounting systems along with expertise in capital planning, cash flow management, and month-end close processes that meet industry-leading timelines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive finance experience in hospitality, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of hotel and resort financial operations
  • Strong proficiency in financial software and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in decentralized accounting environments
  • Proven track record of managing large budgets and financial planning
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities
  • Willingness to relocate to Florida's Gulf Coast

Job Qualifications

  • Previous Director of Finance or assistant Director of Finance experience within a large full-service hotel or destination resort
  • Proven success leading finance within a big-box hospitality operation
  • Experience supporting $85M+ annual revenue operations or similarly complex hospitality environments
  • Strong understanding of decentralized hotel accounting structures
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, capital planning, and cash management
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and business partnering skills
  • Experience consistently achieving aggressive month-end reporting deadlines
  • Experience with Hilton financial systems is preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide strategic financial leadership for a large-scale luxury resort operating within a fully decentralized accounting environment
  • Lead all accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting functions
  • Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting while maintaining an industry-leading five-day month-end close
  • Partner closely with resort leadership to maximize profitability and identify opportunities to improve operational performance
  • Lead annual operating budgets, capital planning, cash flow management, forecasting, and long-range financial strategy
  • Maintain strong internal controls while ensuring compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, audit preparation, banking relationships, and financial risk management
  • Analyze business trends and provide actionable recommendations that support ownership objectives and operational excellence
  • Build collaborative relationships across every operating division, serving as a trusted strategic advisor to resort leadership
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
