Job Description

Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort and Spa is a premier luxury hotel located in the scenic area of Greater Palm Springs. This prestigious resort boasts 531 newly transformed luxury guestrooms, suites, and casita-style villas, complemented by two brand-new Celebrity Chef food and beverage venues that elevate the guest dining experience. As a standout destination in Indian Wells, the resort combines upscale accommodations with breathtaking surroundings, making it a favorite among travelers seeking both relaxation and exceptional hospitality. Hyatt, as a global hospitality leader, focuses on delivering caring and attentive service through its associates, fostering meaningful guest experiences that set the brand apart in the competitive market. The company prides itself on a culture of excellence and inclusivity, emphasizing efficiency and exceptional guest satisfaction at every touchpoint.

The role of Director of Finance at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort and Spa is a critical leadership position within the hotel's Finance team. Reporting directly to the General Manager and part of the Hotel Leadership Committee, this position commands a high level of visibility and engagement with both senior and corporate leadership. The Director of Finance operates as the hotel's "Chief Financial Officer," overseeing all financial functions essential to the property’s operational and strategic success. The salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $180,000, with eligibility for an Incentive Compensation bonus. This pay range reflects the organization’s commitment to recognizing the experience and education that candidates bring to the role.

In this capacity, the Director of Finance is entrusted with four main areas of responsibility: financial management, operational leadership, internal controls and risk management, and business partnership. Financial management includes the oversight of accurate financial reporting, month-end close processes, forecasting, budgeting, and managing both internal and external audits as well as owner and corporate reporting requirements. Operational leadership encompasses cultivating financial literacy among finance and non-financial team leaders, promoting inclusion, diversity, equity, colleague wellbeing, and enhancing operational efficiency and accountability.

The role also demands rigorous internal controls and risk mitigation initiatives. This includes maintaining proper segregation of duties, staying abreast of local legislation changes, and administration of contracts, licenses, and permits. As a strategic business partner, the Director provides actionable financial insights to optimize business results, supports strategic decision making, and collaborates with operational teams to drive targeted performance and measurable outcomes.

Beyond the financial stewardship, the Director of Finance is also responsible for a range of tasks such as managing the accounting function, participating in overall hotel management, nurturing relationships with owners, and ensuring SOX compliance. Additionally, this role involves preparation and review of financial statements, coordination of audits, business planning, supervising IT functions, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation through technology. The Director also champions Hyatt’s core values by cultivating leaders, promoting inclusivity, and encouraging behavioral practices that maximize employee potential and guest satisfaction.

This position offers a rewarding career path with numerous benefits including comprehensive health plans, paid time off, life insurance, 401(k) with matching, and professional development opportunities. As a Hyatt colleague, employees gain access to a hospitality-focused work environment where exceptional performance is both expected and rewarded, offering unlimited growth potential and the possibility to relocate for career advancement. The resort itself serves as a teaching hotel, providing opportunities to learn from seasoned industry professionals committed to hospitality excellence.
