Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hospitality management or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in hotel event sales and planning preferably in upscale or luxury hotels
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales goals
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to develop and implement effective marketing and sales strategies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and hotel leadership
  • Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds
  • 3+ years or more of progressive hotel event sales and planning experience typically with Hyatt preferably with an emphasis in event sales
  • Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • Hotel hospitality degree an asset
  • High energy entrepreneurial spirit motivational leader effective communicator effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Ability to maintain communications with hotel leadership team

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of event sales and event planning including team and individual revenue contribution
  • Develop and recommend the budget marketing plans and objectives and manage within those approved plans
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas
  • Develop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
  • Evaluate each piece of event business to ensure it can be properly serviced
  • Monitor sales performance of event sales managers
  • Put together creative and innovative menus based on skills of the kitchen
  • Work closely with chef on pricing specialty menus
  • Train supervise and work with event staff to solicit and book banquet and event functions as well as plan merchandise and execute the functions
  • Work closely with banquet manager and their team to ensure quality levels are met and enhance banquet set-ups
  • Lead event team to build long term value based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel event sales objectives
  • Administer all phases of the event department including sales planning marketing servicing and administrative procedures
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
