Job Description

Disability Allies (DA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering social connections and inclusivity among young adults and children with and without disabilities. Established with a mission to create supportive environments where everyone feels welcomed and empowered, Disability Allies organizes meaningful team-building events that encourage participants to develop their social skills, build friendships, and engage in community life. These events are designed to pair each individual with a mentor who assists them in social interactions and facilitates inclusive participation. The organization is committed to promoting diversity and equity, ensuring that no discrimination occurs based on race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, political affiliation, gender identification or expression, or military status.

Disability Allies is currently seeking an Event Director to lead its dedicated event planning team. This leadership role is instrumental in executing the organization’s vision by coordinating all aspects of event organization, managing registration processes, and maintaining comprehensive records of attendees. The role requires a dynamic individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a professional and compassionate approach to the needs of the community. The Event Director will serve as a point of contact for members’ inquiries, providing timely responses and support to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience at every event. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization's capacity to connect people across diverse backgrounds and abilities.

The position involves overseeing a team responsible for planning engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of young adults and children with various disabilities. The Event Director will be tasked with ensuring that all events reflect the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. This includes managing online registrations, overseeing check-in procedures, updating the organization's database with contact information of event participants, and ensuring that detailed records are maintained for reporting and outreach purposes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with team members and event participants are vital for success in this role.

Working conditions require flexibility and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. The Event Director must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Given the organization's focus, a genuine commitment to serving young adults with disabilities and fostering an inclusive community is essential. If you are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities through well-coordinated social events, this is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven team at Disability Allies.
