The Director of Catering Sales position at the Hawaii Convention Center is a full-time role classified at pay grade 11, offering a competitive salary range of $125,000 to $130,000 annually. This leadership role is pivotal to coordinating and managing all internal and external catering events, which includes overseeing menu development, pricing strategies, marketing related to catering, and ensuring impeccable execution of events from preparation through clean-up according to safety and sanitation standards such as HACCP compliance. The Director will lead a team by hiring, training, and developing managers, instilling best practices in service techniques and menu presentation while maintaining strong client and vendor relationships to foster business growth. Responsibilities extend to budgeting, forecasting financial targets, managing receivables, and authoring formal proposals and contracts that align with customer expectations and business objectives.

A successful candidate will bring a minimum of two years’ experience in the hospitality industry, including at least one year in catering sales, and demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and keen attention to detail. Expertise in menu creation with chefs, operational oversight of food service, and competency with audio-visual equipment for event setups are required. Superior communication skills and the ability to problem-solve and strategize proactively under pressure are vital. The role also demands advanced proficiency in computer applications like Excel and PowerPoint and adherence to the highest standards of integrity and client service excellence.

Job Duties

  • Hire and train catering managers
