Job Description
The Country Club of Virginia (CCV), located in Richmond, VA, is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious private, member-owned clubs. Established with a rich heritage and a dedication to exceptional service, CCV holds the prestigious ranking as the 7th Platinum Club of America. The club spans two remarkable campuses: Westhampton and James River, each offering unique amenities tailored to an upscale, discerning membership. The Westhampton Campus boasts a historic 70,000 square foot clubhouse, complemented by a 100,000 square foot Fitness/Racquet Sports Complex, a spacious four-acre resort-style Aquatics Complex, and numerous racquet courts. It features dedicated youth activity areas, a luxurious spa, and five diverse dining outlets, catering to a broad spectrum of member needs and preferences. Seven miles away, the James River Campus complements the club with two championship golf courses, a state-of-the-art Golf Performance Center, club locker rooms, access to the James River via boat, and a sizeable 36,000 square foot clubhouse that is slated for an exciting reopening in Fall 2025. The club is also known for hosting prestigious events such as the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. Annually, CCV’s banquet operations generate over four million dollars in revenue, serving more than 8,000 members year-round and facilitating approximately 32 weddings and multiple holiday events, often exceeding 1,000 covers per event. This combination of historic tradition, luxurious facilities, and vibrant social calendar positions CCV as a landmark institution within the Richmond community and the country club industry as a whole.
The role of Director of Banquets at CCV is an integral leadership position within the Food and Beverage Management team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $72,000 to $108,000 per year, reflecting the seniority and responsibility entrusted to the successful candidate. The Director of Banquets will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of approximately 1,800 private and member events annually, ensuring that each occasion delivers a memorable, high-quality experience consistent with the club’s esteemed standards. The Director leads a team composed of five direct reports and approximately 33 full-time equivalent staff members. Collaboration with the Special Events Office Team is essential, especially in planning room layouts, managing communications, and maintaining stringent quality standards. This role demands a leader who is committed to excellence, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences in a luxury hospitality environment. The Director must maintain a spotless and safe environment while delivering platinum-level service to all members and guests. Furthermore, the Director of Banquets engages actively in weekly meetings, training sessions, and other club-wide initiatives, contributing to the overall success and continuous improvement of the club's operations. The position requires dynamic leadership qualities and offers the opportunity to lead a service-focused team in a vibrant, sophisticated setting. Candidates with a strong background in upscale banquet management, preferably within private clubs, luxury hotels, or resorts, and a proven track record in team building, training, and motivating staff are highly sought after.
