The Director of Line Haul Strategy & Operations at Echo Global Logistics is a senior leadership position focused on optimizing the company’s extensive transportation network. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in transportation or related fields
- At least 5 years of experience in transportation strategy and carrier management
- Experience leading teams in transportation or logistics
- Strong knowledge of domestic line haul transportation markets
- Proficiency with transportation technology and data analytics preferred
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning capabilities
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, supply chain, business, or related field preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, managed transportation, or supply chain
- 5+ years of experience in transportation strategy, carrier management, network optimization, pricing, or operations
- 3+ years of experience leading teams and developing transportation professionals
- Strong understanding of domestic transportation markets and line haul economics
- Demonstrated experience managing transportation costs and profitability
- Proficient in using data and analytics to guide transportation decisions
- Experience with TMS platforms and transportation technology preferred
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, technology-enabled transportation environment
Job Duties
- Develop and execute line haul strategy to optimize transportation capacity, cost, service, and profitability
- Evaluate freight flows, lane volumes, carrier capacity, market conditions, and transportation costs to improve network efficiency
- Partner with Carrier Management to develop strategic carrier capacity plans and maintain relationships with transportation providers
- Own line haul financial performance and identify opportunities to improve transportation margin and profitability
- Establish operating standards and KPIs to monitor line haul performance and develop corrective action plans
- Collaborate with Technology and Analytics teams to implement data-driven tools and automation for transportation processes
- Support Sales and Account Management by providing transportation expertise for customer strategies and RFPs
- Lead, develop, and coach the Line Haul team to foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and results
