The role of Director of Emergency Services is a senior leadership position tailored for an experienced nursing professional dedicated to advancing nursing practices and managing complex clinical environments. As the Director, you will hold full administrative responsibility on a 24-hour basis for aligning emergency department operations with the broader organizational goals. This includes ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care, maintaining high safety and quality standards, managing fiscal resources efficiently, and enhancing operational productivity across multiple locations. Your leadership will be instrumental in cultivating a collaborative team culture that spans various emergency departments and multidisciplinary hospital departments.

Key responsibilities involve strategic leadership with a focus on planning, implementing, evaluating, and continually improving nursing care delivery systems to meet evolving healthcare demands. You will oversee fiscal management tasks such as budgeting, resource allocation, and financial oversight to sustain the departments' fiscal health and operational effectiveness. Being an effective communicator and leader, you will build and maintain relationships within your teams and throughout the hospital, driving innovation and change management initiatives to promote a climate of trust, patient advocacy, and autonomous nursing practice.

This position is ideal for a nursing leader with a Master’s degree in Nursing, a Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Florida, and a minimum of five years of emergency department clinical experience complemented by at least three years of progressive emergency care management experience. The role demands a deep understanding of nursing care delivery models, quality and safety processes, financial acumen, project management capabilities, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have national nursing certification or be prepared to obtain such certification within six months of hire. This position offers the opportunity to impact emergency nursing practice significantly, lead strategic projects, and oversee operations across multiple emergency care sites, setting new standards in nursing excellence and patient care.

Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred or enrollment in MSN program
  • National nursing certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum 5 years of emergency department nursing practice
  • Minimum 3 years of emergency care management experience
  • Proven leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Strong financial and project management abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or currently enrolled in an MSN program
  • National nursing certification or commitment to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional nursing practice experience in an emergency department setting
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive management experience in emergency care including oversight of multiple sites
  • Deep knowledge of professional nursing practice environments, nursing care delivery models, quality and safety improvement processes
  • Proven ability to create a strategic vision and manage organizational change
  • Strong proficiency in budgetary processes, analytical problem-solving, project management, and organizational administration
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Direct the strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of nursing care delivery systems across all emergency departments
  • Maintain round-the-clock administrative accountability for patient care quality, safety standards, and departmental work efficiencies
  • Manage financial resources, budgeting processes, and resource allocation to ensure sound fiscal health and operational productivity
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships among Emergency Department staff and across multidisciplinary hospital departments
  • Lead initiatives that foster a climate of trust, patient advocacy, autonomous nursing practice, and effective organizational change
  • Self-direct and oversee multiple strategic projects and operational initiatives simultaneously
