The Culinary Services Manager plays a critical role in the daily operations and overall success of the kitchen and dining venues within the community. This full-time leadership position requires dedication to managing staff and maintaining the highest standards of food preparation, safety, and presentation. The manager is tasked with overseeing all aspects of culinary services, including scheduling, staffing, training, and maintaining compliance with health regulations. They also work closely with residents and their families to ensure satisfaction and resolve any concerns related to culinary services. This includes executing theme meals, banquets, and community engagement activities that enrich the residents' lifestyle. The manager is also responsible for facilitating communication between the front of house and back of house teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and service excellence.

The position demands proficiency in leadership and organizational skills, the ability to handle customer and employee issues sensitively, and a foundational knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel for reporting and scheduling. A valid driver’s license is required as some travel may be necessary using a company or personal vehicle. A minimum of five years of culinary experience, along with required food handling certifications, are essential to succeed in this role. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Manage day to day operations and staffing for kitchen and dining venues
  • Supervise Culinary Services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review, hiring, and corrective actions
  • Meet regularly with residents and family members to ensure high satisfaction levels
  • Collaborate with restaurant manager or coordinator to provide high customer service levels and create a restaurant style dining atmosphere
  • Ensure front of house and back of house staff work closely to exceed food product expectations
  • Assist kitchen and restaurant staff with back and front of house operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and quality standards in kitchen and restaurant areas
  • Ensure food preparation, storage, and service comply with company and health code standards
  • Interview, hire, and conduct monthly department meetings and in-services
  • Manage monthly and annual culinary services budgets including food, supplies, and labor documentation
  • Plan and develop recipes and menus based on resident preferences and budgets
  • Maintain proper equipment use and kitchen supply inventory
  • Ensure purchasing standards and vendor relationships are upheld
  • Plan and execute Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Work with community sales and staff to market the community through food-related events
  • Communicate company expectations and first impression requirements to kitchen and restaurant staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
